Former Leeds United star slams decision in clash vs Nottingham Forest

Former Leeds United star Danny Mills claims his old side should have been down to 10 men in the first half of the clash against Nottingham Forest.

Forest did well to stifle the Whites in the first half at Elland Road, but should have had a clear advantage heading into the break, according to Mills.

Kalvin Phillips received a yellow card for a lunge on Tiago Silva, but Mills insists the Leeds' midfielder should have received a red card for the tackle.

The former Whites' right-back was quick to criticise Phillips for the tackle, which he described as 'reckless'.

"Kalvin Phillips is very fortunate. If Silva's leg is half a yard forward it could have been very bad," Mills told Sky Sports.

"The referee is running the game by a case of consequence because he wasn't hurt. It's a scissor tackle. It's reckless and dangerous."

Meanwhile, Mills also explained a first half decision to not give Leeds a spot-kick for a penalty shout following an incident involving Adam Forshaw was ultimately the right call.

"It could have been given but from the referee's angle I can understand why he didn't give it," Mills added. "Because of the way he threw himself to the ground, he didn't help himself."
