Former Leeds United star identifies key Marcelo Bielsa transfer mistake

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills feels that the Whites could be made to rue a key transfer mistake during the summer window.

Leeds began the season with a fine 3-1 victory at Bristol City but were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday lunchtime.

Pablo Hernandez opened the scoring with an accomplished finish after taking a ball over the top in his stride, but a scrappy goal by Lewis Grabban made sure Forest left Elland Road with a point.

Leeds were left to rue what could have been after they missed an array of chances, with Patrick Bamford providing his latest mixed performances for the Whites.

And it's this area of the field which is most worrying Mills, who claims that Marcelo Bielsa should have attempted to sign more loan options for his close friends at Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

"There is no back-up for Bamford as a direct striker. He is great mates with Pochettino and Pep, he should have gone to them and asked for someone on loan," Mills told Sky Sports.

Furthermore, this is the reason behind why Mills is not confident enough to predict Leeds to definitely finish inside the automatic promotion places come next May.

"I still think they will be anywhere between first and six. I do worry about their depth. They don't have any back-up for Bamford when it comes to strikers. That could be a real issue," Mills added.
