Former Leeds United goalkeeper discusses his two-year Elland Road learning curve

Bari goalkeeper Elia Caprile has explained how playing for Leeds United over the course of two years helped him develop his game.

The 21-year-old, who left Elland Road this summer, has impressed upon his return to Italy, starring for Bari in Serie B.

Caprile has been between the sticks for all of their games this term, helping them to an impressive start this season. So far after eight games, Caprile's new side sit joint top of Serie B, having picked up 18 points.

While he did not make an appearance for Leeds during his time at Elland Road, that's not to say he did not learn anything. Caprile's time with the Whites opened his eyes to a different way of playing, as well as helping him to mature off the pitch too.

And speaking to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, the Italian shot stopper believes he was lucky to have had such an experience with Leeds.

"I was lucky enough to be able to discover a different school of goalkeepers, a different football, more physical with less tactics and more speed," Caprile told Corriere dello Sport.

"On a human level, I lived in quarantine during Covid in England for five months by myself, and this gave me the awareness of being able to manage any difficult moment in the future."
