Former Leeds United favourite predicts old side to keep momentum going this weekend

Leeds United returned to second spot in the Championship after another dramatic round of matches, which saw the Peacocks beat Preston and Sheffield United held by Birmingham City.

That puts the fate of Leeds back into the hands of Marcelo Bielsa’s side heading into the final five matches of the season and another potentially difficult tie is on the horizon this weekend, as Sheffield Wednesday are welcomed to Elland Road.

The Owls have caught the eye under the guidance of Steve Bruce and enter the game against their Yorkshire rivals in a good vein of firm, although David Prutton believes the hosts should have enough to see off the threat, backing a 2-1 win.

“Leeds got the win at Preston on Tuesday night, which they needed to do after such a poor performance against Birmingham at the weekend,” he said in his predictions for Sky Sports.

“Sheffield Wednesday have probably left a little bit too much to do to reach the play-offs, but if they keep winning games you never know. I can't see them getting anything from Elland Road, though.”

Norwich City’s draw in midweek has given Leeds some hope of winning the title but Prutton believes the Canaries will return to winning ways with a 2-0 triumph against Wigan Athletic.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United will also maintain pace as Prutton expects the Blades to overcome Millwall at Bramall Lane.
