Former Leeds United favourite in running for Stoke City job after Nathan Jones' exit confirmed

Stoke City have confirmed the sacking of Nathan Jones after a disastrous start to the season, which left the Potters second-bottom after losing 10 of their opening 14 matches.

Considered to be Championship promotion contenders at the beginning of the campaign, Stoke have struggled to find their rhythm under Jones, winning just six of 38 matches since the Welshman arrived from Luton Town in January.

With Monday night’s clash with league leaders West Brom looming, the club are swiftly looking to find a replacement and a number of intriguing options are being muted by the bookies.

Former Brighton boss Chris Hughton, who has reportedly already rejected the club’s advances, is 3/1 favourite for the post alongside former Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill.

David Moyes, out of a job since leaving West Ham United in May 2018, is 4/1 to take the reigns in Staffordshire, while Tony Pulis is given the same price to return to the club where he previously enjoyed success.

Neil Harris and Jose Gomes, who departed Millwall and Reading respectively earlier in the season, are also seen as in the running, as well as former Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka and ex-Leeds United hero Lee Bowyer, who is currently at Charlton Athletic.
