Former Leeds United defender makes takeover admission amid Qatari Sports Investment interest

Former centre-back Danny Mills believes Qatari Sports Investment [QSI] will find it "very difficult" to invest in Leeds United because of the current coronavirus pandemic.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is the owner of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, is the chairman of QSI and has expressed an interest in purchasing a stake in the Whites - something current owner Andrea Radrizzani is only too well aware of.

However, the Whites, who reported losses of over £21m for the financial year ending June 30, 2019, are suffering as a result of the suspension of the 2019/20 season because of the COVID-19 crisis, meaning the club has missed out on gate receipts and a whole host of other income methods.

But whilst Mills, who spent five years of his playing career at Elland Road, believes the COVID-19 pandemic will impact QSI's plans to invest in the club, he is refusing to rule out the prospect of Leeds signing players on loan from PSG in the coming months.

Speaking to Football Insider about the prospect of QSI investing in the Whites, Mills said: "I think it is difficult.

"The Qatari group are very wealthy and Radrizzani knows the chairman very well and I think they have a personal relationship.

"If they get promoted I suspect they will get investment and there could be some loan players from PSG.

"It will be interesting because everyone is going to be sceptical as to where football goes next. If there is no fans next season, broadcast deals and sponsorship deals will change.

"Until we know what this season looks like, and next season looks like, it will be very difficult."

According to a report by 90 Min, PSG are considering the idea of sending 17-year-old duo Adil Aouchiche and Tanguy Kouassi to Elland Road next season on loan.
