A former Cambuslang Rangers stalwart switch his coaching whistle for pen recently, as he wrote his memoirs.
Gordon Young played 333 times for Cambuslang, scoring 72 goals during his time at the club in the 80s and 90s.
From there he went into coaching, helping to develop the next generation of players - and it was a journey that took him across the world.
And Gordon's new book tells many a tale from Cambuslang to Kazakhstan, and plenty of pitches in-between, serving up an insight into his methods, beliefs and journey.
The 57-year told Lanarkshire Live : “I have fond memories of my time at Somervell Park and still have friends at the club.
"I wrote this book during the lockdown as, like everyone, I think it was real-time for reflection.

“My coaching story breaks down my development, the mentors I have had, the roles I have carried out, my run-in with depression, and the revealing and funny experiences and adventures I have had, in a simple, engaging, and entertaining way.
"I hope readers will laugh-out-loud at the tales involving the great and the good of the football world, and find my own football philosophy and emotional take on the sport I love refreshing.”
Gordon was an important character in creating Motherwell FC Youth and mentored many Scottish football players including David Turnbull, Allan Campbell, and James Scott during his time there.
He also played on the team as a young teenager.
