Former Laker Brandon Ingram wins Most Improved Player Award

The Los Angeles Lakers are awaiting the winner of the Houston-Oklahoma City series, but a former member of their team and an important factor in the trade to acquire Anthony Davis took home some hardware on Monday while the Lakers wait for their next opponent.

Former Lakers forward and current Pelicans starter Brandon Ingram was awarded the 2019-20 Most Improved Player award. Ingram was a Western Conference All-Star and played in the 2020 All-Star Game for Team LeBron, averaging a career-high 23.8 points per game and six rebounds. Ingram made the significant jump while the Pelicans were without Zion Williamson for most of the year and he improved considerably despite only working out a month before the season after recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome.

One of the biggest sources of improvement for the young forward was the 3-point line, where he shot 39 percent from the 3-point line and massively increased his 3-point volume, taking 6.2 3-pointers per game, shattering his previous career-high average of 2.1 3-pointers per game.
