Former Kilmarnock starlet goes goal crazy to win deal at senior side

Irvine Meadow boss Colin Spence hopes he has unearthed a gem in Connor Boyd.

Medda snapped up the 23-year-old striker after he banged in eight goals in two friendlies last week.

A 12-minute hat-trick against Irvine Vics and five goals and an assist in the first half of a bounce game 24 hours later convinced Spence to get a deal done.

Boyd, a former Killie pro-youth player, spent last season in the amateur ranks with Hurlford Thistle.

Spence said: “We brought Connor in for a look and he certainly grabbed his chance with both hands.

“That’s the squad pretty much sorted and while there’s no pressure on the lad, hopefully we’ve found a wee gem.”
