Former Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle defender Conrad Balatoni signs for Clyde

Clyde have completed the signing of Conrad Balatoni after he departed Edinburgh City.

The experienced defender joins on an initial one-year deal and he will provide leadership skills at the heart of the Bully Wee's defence.

Balatoni played for numerous Scottish clubs including Kilmarnock, Partick Thistle and Falkirk before spending three years at the Citizens.

Danny Lennon told the Clyde website : “Conrad ticks all the boxes for what we are looking for in a centre half to take the club forward.

"He has played the majority of his career at Premiership and Championship level. He is a ball playing centre half, always looking to get on the ball and contribute positively.

Balatoni previously played for Clyde's rivals Partick Thistle (SNS Group)

"He also attacks the ball well and is a big presence in both boxes. To add to all that, he has great character and leadership qualities, which are so important.

“I have watched him keenly throughout his career. It is no coincidence that in his three years at Edinburgh City they reached the promotion play offs each year, where his drive, leadership and technical qualities had a positive impact, game after game. He will suit our style of play very well.”
