Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain has praised defender David Syme for leading by example during last night's 1-0 win against Darvel.
Syme capped a superb performance at the back with the only goal of the game as Buffs leapfrogged their opponents at the top of the West of Scotland Premier.
The former Kilmarnock ace has struck up a terrific centre-half partnership with summer signing Ross Smith so far this season and Strain reckons he can only get better.
He's convinced he's seeing a shift in the 24-year-old's mentality - an area he's enouraged the stopper to address.
Strain said: " I thought Davie Syme was terrfic all night.
"I've been critical of Davie in his maturity over the piece.
"I think tonight you see that he's learning, his character is coming to the fore, he's becoming a leader.
"He put his head on a lot of things that came into the box and he scored the goal so he gets the credit he probably deserves."
