A former karate champion accused of historic child sex offences will stand trial next year.
Andrew Sherry has been charged with gross indecency with a child and inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency against a boy in the 1980s. The 79-year-old also faces a count of sexual assault on a man in 2012.
These offences are said to have occurred at his then home in West Derby and a karate club. Sherry, of Mann Island in Liverpool city centre, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Wednesday, in order to face these charges.

The pensioner, wearing a grey suit with a light blue shirt, spoke only to confirm his name. Judge Neil Flewitt KC fixed a trial date for September 4 next year, with the case expected to last up to three weeks.
Sherry was released on unconditional bail ahead of a further case management hearing on March 13, 2023.
