Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio held at gunpoint in family home

Former Juventus and Italy star Claudio Marchisio has been held at gunpoint at his home in Turin.

Marchisio, 33, was with wife Roberta when four armed and masked men broke into his home at around 7:30pm on Tuesday night.

The group are believed to have forced Marchisio to hand over quantities of money and jewellery from the house, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

They are said to have been armed with handguns with a terrified Marchisio calling police, with an investigation now underway.

Local authorities are now studying CCTV footage in an attempt to identify those responsible.

Marchisio returned to live in Turin after a brief spell in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg.

He has two children with wife Roberta, sons Davide, 10 and Leonardo, seven.

It is unclear if the two children were in the house at the time of the terrifying ordeal.

Marchisio and Roberta, who is a former junior tennis player, tied the knot in June 2008.
