Former Jewson branch in Weston-super-Mare to become car rental facility

The site of builders’ merchant chain Jewson’s former premises in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, is set to reopen as a car rental facility.

US car and van hire firm Enterprise Rent-A-Car has agreed a new 20-year lease for the site on Winterstoke Road after securing permission from Weston Town Council last year.

The 0.88 acre site has been cleared of existing buildings ready to accommodate a large parking area as well as a washing facility, spray booth and small workshop.

Enterprise will now relocate from its current base in the town on Weston Trade Park, Aisecome Way, which it said was no longer fit for purpose.

Liam Farbrace, Enterprise’s property, development and facilities manager, said: “We have seen an increased demand for our services in our existing location which had outgrown the facility.

“The new site is a perfect location to further improve our services whilst upgrading the facility. It also has a better geographical location in the town, bringing us a lot more central to residents and other businesses.”

Property consultants Alder King negotiated the transaction on behalf of the landlord.

Alder King associate Emma Smith said: “The site has been inactive for some time since Jewsons vacated it.

“The letting to Enterprise brings it back into use and will facilitate the continued growth of a successful local business.”

Enterprise has more than 420 branches across the UK.
