Former Jags WR Terrelle Pryor stabbed, charged with simple assault

A report surfaced Saturday morning detailing a stabbing involving former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Terrelle Pryor Sr. in Pittsburgh. Pryor was severely wounded in the incident and listed in critical condition, but was upgraded throughout the day and eventually arrested for simple assault according to the Pittsburgh Police Department.

Shalaya Briston, who CBS KDKA Pittsburgh labeled as Pryor’s girlfriend, also was arrested and charged with criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault for her involvement in the incident.

The key details of the report are as follows:

Upon further investigation by detectives in the Violent Crimes Unit, it was learned the male’s injuries were incurred during an earlier dispute inside an apartment on the 200 block of Heinz Street on the city’s North Side. During that altercation, a female victim also received injuries.

After consultation with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, police have arrested two people believed to be mutual combatants in this incident.

Pryor started his career with the Oakland Raiders (2011-13) and was selected in the third-round of the 2011 Supplemental Draft out of Ohio State. Afterward, he bounced around and spent time with the Seattle Seahawks (2014), Kansas City Chiefs (2015) and Cleveland Browns (2015-16) amongst notables. While in Cleveland he made the transition from quarterback to receiver and played under current Jags coordinator John DeFilippo. Three seasons later the two had a reunion in Jacksonville this offseason.

Pryor was one of Ohio State’s most polarizing quarterbacks during his time there, racking up a career total of 57 touchdowns. His best year in the league occurred while with the Browns, where he accumulated 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
