Former Jags WR Allen Lazard impressing QB Aaron Rodgers and the Packers

Around this time last season, former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Allen Lazard had a great deal of buzz surrounding him, and it resulted in him being named to the team’s practice squad. Unfortunately, that also resulted in the Green Bay Packers snagging him from the Jags last December and it appears he’s once again impressing with his new team. In fact, he’s impressed so much that he was singled out by the GOAT himself, Aaron Rodgers.

“Some guys who you didn’t maybe think of before camp who’ve had great camps, and I’m talking about, specifically, Allen Lazard,” Rodgers said after practice Monday. “I think he’s had a really nice camp. He’s made a bunch of plays. He’s always showing up on special teams. He does things the right way at practice. He’s put himself into a position to be playing for all 32 teams.”

Rodgers’ comments came after Lazard had a solid showing during the Packers’ Week 2 game against the Baltimore Ravens, where he racked up three catches for 63 receiving yards. During Week 1’s game against the Houston Texans, he only had one catch for 27 yards, but it was a significant one because it was good for a touchdown reception.

According to our comrades at Packers Wire, the Packers have strong numbers at the wide receiver spot, but Lazard has a chance to make the roster on the back end. However, it’s also a chance they won’t be able to keep him with players like Trevor Davis, Darrius Shepherd, J’Mon Moore and Teo Redding all making cases to stick, too. That said, Lazard’s chances will heavily depend on his performance in the second half of the preseason.

Now the question we have for our readers at home is whether or not you all believe the Jags should take a second swing at Lazard if he’s let go during final cuts? Let us know via social media.
