Former Jags TE James O’Shaughnessy receiving interest from Steelers

We’ve officially reached the one week mark to the tampering period and it appears business has began to pick up for some former Jacksonville Jaguars on the free agency market. First there was the signing of Ereck Flowers to the Washington Redskins and now another player who saw significant play time for the Jags in former tight end James O’Shaughnessy. Per Field Yates of ESPN, the veteran was hosted by the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday in hopes of getting a contract done.

O’Shaughnessy, 27, spent two seasons with the Jags after being claimed off waivers in September of 2017. During his two seasons with the Jags, he managed to accumulate 38 catches for 363 yards and a touchdown while playing in 30 games and starting in 10. Prior to that he spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2015-17) and New England Patriots (as an offseason acquisition in 2017) .

As pointed out by Yates, the Steelers could use some help behind Vance McDonald after Jesse James was picked up by the Detroit Lions in free agency. That said, O’Shaughnessy would be perfect for them as a player that could be a decent No. 2 or No. 3 tight end for them, while also helping out on special teams.
