Former ITV2 Love Island star tells viewers to 'go easy' on contestants after first show

Former Love Island star Adam Collard has told viewers to 'go easy' on the contestants following the first episode.

The 23-year-old appeared on the show last year, causing his own controversy by attempting to crack on with four different women in the villa.

He was in Liverpool last night at a huge viewing party at the Shankly Hotel as the fifth season got underway.

While he was enjoying himself last night, today he caught up on the social media reactions to the 12 new singletons, and had some choice words for fans of the reality dating programme.

In a tweet to his 96,000 followers, he said: "Seeing last nights love island tweets. If you follow anyone round for 24 hours a day and pick out 60 minutes worth of content. You can make them look good, bad, funny, boring, arrogant, nice etc.

"I’m sure the majority of all of the islanders are sound so go easy [laughing emoji]"

People replying to last year's heartbreaker agreed with him, many simply saying "well said".

Anton and Amy on Love Island (ITV)

Last night we saw Anton choose Amy, but hours later he told "surfer Barbie", Lucie he really fancied her.

This caused fans of the ITV2 show to compare him to Adam, and many were unimpressed with the way he handled the situation.

*Love Island is on ITV1 evenings from 9pm
