Former Ireland underage star Louie Barry completes move to Barcelona

Former Ireland underage star Louie Barry has completed a move to Barcelona from West Brom.

The teenager represented Ireland U15s and U16 but has since committed his international future to England.

Barry, 16, has signed for the Catalan giants after a big scramble for his signature that reportedly included PSG.

The striker underwent a medical in Paris on Thursday before he had a late change of heart and signed a long-term contract with Barca on Saturday, reports the Birmingham Mail.

Prior to quitting the club this month Barry had been on Albion’s books since the age of six.

He has an Irish grandparent and made his Ireland debut in a 2-0 win for the U15s over Cyprus in March 2018.

His last involvement though for the Boys in Green was in the U16 Victory Shield in November last year.

Barry has since lined out for England U16s for whom he is expected to carry on representing as he develops at La Masia.

Barcelona said: "The player, who has signed for three seasons, has passed the relevant medical tests for FC Barcelona medical services. The signing of the contract was attended by Silvio Elías, manager responsible for professional training football, and José Mari Bakero, responsible for professional training football.
