Former Ireland international Curtis Fleming appointed manager of Indian club Punjab FC

Former Republic of Ireland international Curtis Fleming has been named as the new head coach of Indian club Punjab FC.

The Dubliner has worked as a coach at the second-tier club since September 2019 and has been confirmed as the club's new manager for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

The ex St. Pat's full-back has also held coaching roles with Bolton, QPR, Hartlepool, Livingston, Crystal Palace, Hartlepool United and MIddlesbrough.

As a player, Fleming's notable achievements include a first division win in 1995 with Middlesbrough, Fleming enjoyed a successful 10-year spell with the English club throughout most of the 1990's.

The 51-year-old was handed his Ireland debut under Mick McCarthy in 1996 and wore the green shirt ten times during his career.

Confirming the news on Twitter, Flemming said: ""I'm looking forward to getting back out to the Punjab and the season ahead with @RGPunjabFC."
