Former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale facing more charges

Former Ipswich Mayor, Paul Pisasale is set to face court on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 65-year-old is currently on bail on three separate charges, including extortion.

Pisasale resigned as mayor in June amid a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) investigation into an incident in which he was found at Melbourne airport carrying $50,000 cash.

This evening the CCC released a statement saying it had served a notice to appear on Pisasale's legal representative to face two charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It said as the investigation was ongoing, it was unable to comment further.

Pisasale has been contacted for comment.

He is required to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 8.
