Former I’m A Celebrity contestant faked pregnancy to avoid trials

Gillian McKeith's stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! will (probably) never be forgotten. The You Are What You Eat host had a somewhat traumatic time in the jungle and was constantly voted to do Bushtucker trials. Twelve years after appearing on the show, Gillian has opened up about the experience and, in particular, how she tried to get out of doing trials.

"I tried everything to get out of these trials," she said during an interview with The Sun as she discussed her time on the show, which is currently airing its 22nd series on ITV. "I tried telling them I was pregnant and they didn’t believe me. I said, 'I do actually believe I am pregnant and we really must take this seriously,'" Gillian added.

Perhaps Gillian's most well-known moment of I'm A Celebrity was when she fainted after being told she'd be doing a live trial by hosts Ant and Dec. Viewers have since questioned whether Gillian had actually felt unwell.

Earlier this month, Gillian reflected on her I'm A Celebrity journey whilst chatting with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on This Morning. When asked what she hated about the experience, she said: "Everything! It was horrendous! I was out every single day doing trials!"

In the same interview, Gillian was accused of pretending to faint by Carol Vorderman and she protested: "I did not pretend to faint. I have a medical condition. I can’t believe you’re mocking it. That’s terrible!" Despite her opposition to the jungle, fans are convinced that she will join the cast of I'm A Celebrity's upcoming All Stars edition. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues on ITV at the slightly later time of 9.15pm on Tuesday, November 15. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
