A FORMER Hunter youth worker will face court on Friday accused of historic sex offences in the 1990s.
Police formed Lake Macquarie's Strike Force Eiraban in November last year to investigate allegations that two teenage boys were abused in Muswellbrook and Gateshead between 1990 and 2004.
On Thursday a 71-year-old man attended Belmont police station following extensive inquiries.
He was arrested and charged with 15 offences including sex assault (incite indecent act under 16 and under authority); three counts of sexual intercourse with person 10 or over and under 16 years, sexual intercourse with person 10 and under 16 years; sexual intercourse with person 14 or over and under 16 years; aggravated indecent assault of a victim under the authority of offender; and supply prohibited drug.
Police said they will allege in court that the Marks Point man was formerly a youth worker.
He was formally refused bail in Belmont Local Court on Thursday and is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court.
Strike Force Eiraban investigations are ongoing.
