Former Houston Rockets dynamo Vernon Maxwell: ‘Bring on Utah’

The Houston Rockets face off with the Utah Jazz in round one of the playoffs on Sunday and a former piece of the “Clutch City” championship teams in 1994 and 1995 is ready for it to begin.

Vernon Maxwell, the maker of multiple clutch shots during his time in Houston, had three simple words about his feelings on this series: Bring on Utah.

Maxwell, of course, took a leave of absence after Game 1 of the 1995 playoffs due to some frustration over playing time which led to Clyde Drexler taking over his spot and the rest is history.

Maxwell is clearly going to be tuning into this rematch series after the Rockets knocked off the Jazz 4-1 in the semifinals in 2018. James Harden has had a lot of success against the Jazz this season averaging 33.5 points and 7.3 rebounds while knocking down 46.6 percent of his shots.

Game 1 is Sunday at 8:30 p.m. CST from Toyota Center.
