A former hotel manager says guests should never use toiletries in their room, and has also advised against using a coffee machine if you have one.
Melissa Hanks shared a TikTok video explaining what she avoids in hotel rooms after years of working in the industry. She said: "As a former hotel manager and an avid coffee drinker I will never use the coffee machine in a hotel room. She said the filter is never washed and people use the machines for other things than making coffee.
Turning to toiletries, Hanks looked at refillable pumps that many hotels have in their bathrooms for soap, shampoo and shower gel.
She claimed she had seen bodily fluids in the bottles, as well as hair removal cream.
Hanks said: "I've seen Nair and god knows what else in there."
One hotel worker replied to the video: 'I worked at a resort and watched the housekeeper wipe the toilet then use that same rag to wipe off the coffee pot.'
Another former housekeeping manager added: ]"I also NEVER use glass cups in rooms." A third said: "After being a housekeeper at a hotel, I just never want to stay in one ever again."
