Former Hibs striker Jason Cummings set to renew Hearts rivalry after inking Dundee deal

Former Hibernian striker Jason Cummings has joined Dundee on an 18-month deal, the Championship side has announced.

The 25-year-old scored 71 goals in just over 150 games for the Easter Road outfit, lifting the Scottish Cup and second tier titles before departing for Nottingham Forest in 2017.

The former Hearts youth product became a fan favourite in Leith for his boisterous off-field personality as much as his exploits on the pitch, with a particular fondness for netting in Edinburgh derbies.

He will now line up against the Jambos once again after linking up with James McPake's side on a deal until summer 2022.

Dundee announced he would wear the number 35 shirt he also occupied while at Easter Road.

The move to the City Ground did not work out, but the forward shot himself into national headlines last year when his FA Cup double against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool while at Shrewsbury earned the Shropshire side a replay at Anfield.

Cummings also had a spell on loan at Rangers alongside temporary moves to Peterborough United and Luton Town before moving to the New Meadow in 2019.

His early form at Forest was enough to convince interim Scotland boss Malky Mackay he deserved a call up for a friendly with the Netherlands in 2017, with Cummings making his debut as a substitute.

However, he had been restricted to just 11 appearances for Shrewsbury this season, prompting Dundee to make a move.
