Former Hibs defender Ryan McGivern has been excluded from training for two weeks after coming into contact with a player who tested positive for coronavirus.
The 30-year-old has taken the decision to self isolate himself following the match between his club Linfield and Armagh-based Hanover FC at the weekend.
Northern Ireland-based journalist Mark McIntosh, who works for the Sun, tweeted to say that McGivern has been "excused from training as a precaution". He took the decision to self-isolate to avoid further issues,
As reported by the Daily Record, Hanover FC confirmed that a player from the club tested positive for the virus following a fixture with Coagh Utd Reserves.
A spokesperson added: "Hanover FC had no knowledge of the testing prior to confirmation of the positive test at 6.30pm this evening. We immediately then took all precautionary measures by contacting Hanover players, the opposing club along with the Mid-Ulster Football League and liaising with the NHS via their helpline for advice which has now been passed on to all in question."
McGivern, who started his career with Manchester City, played for Hibs during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons.
