Former Hibs and Celtic striker returns to Scottish Premiership as Livingston confirm signing

Livingston have confirmed the signing of Hibs Scottish Cup hero Anthony Stokes.

The West Lothian club announced this afternoon that the 32-year-old had joined on a one year deal.

Stokes had been a free agent having departing Iranian side Persepolis earlier this year.

The striker has turned out for Hibs across three different spells, and was instrumental in the 2016 Scottish Cup win.

He also enjoyed spells in Scotland with Celtic and Falkirk.

Announcing his signing, Livingston said: "Livingston FC is thrilled to announce the signing of Irish striker Anthony Stokes on a one-year-deal following his departure from Persian Gulf Pro League champions, Persepolis in Iran.

"Stokes is a well-known face in the Scottish game having played for Falkirk, Celtic and three spells at Hibernian. South of the border, the 32-year-old has played for Arsenal, Sheffield United, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and most recently, Blackburn Rovers."

They added: "In his time in Scotland, Stokes can count 4 Premiership titles, 3 Scottish Cups (2 with Celtic and 1 with Hibs), 1 League Cup, 3 Young Player of the Month Awards and a Goal of the Season award.

With 136 career goals in Scotland alone, it’s safe to say that our new number 9 certainly has an eye for goal!"
