Former Hibernian goalkeeper Adam Bogdan set to join Ferencváros

Former Hibernian goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is set to join Ferencváros in his homeland after leaving the Easter Road side.

The Hungarian international stopper rejoined the Leith club in November after being released by Liverpool, before penning a short-term deal until the end of the season in January.

However, he failed to make an appearance under Jack Ross and departed at the end of the campaign.

It has now been reported Bogdan is in talks to join the Hungarian champions, who sit top of the Nemzeti Bajnokság I after 29 matches.

The club are managed by former Tottenham and Dynamo Kyiv striker Serhiy Rebrov and feature fellow ex-Hibs stopper Dávid Gróf in their squad.

Bogdan - who made 25 appearances in his first spell at the club - was one of three players released by the Easter Road side after the season was ended amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steven Whittaker and Vykintas Slivka also departed the club.

Bogdan told the Daily Record : "The relationship with the Hibs fans was great for me and Edinburgh is a wonderful city, I really enjoyed my time there.

"I loved it at Hibs, I was signed by my former manager at Bolton Wanderers, Neil Lennon and he trusted me. This was reflected in my performances on the pitch.

"But my contract there expired at the end of May and Hibs could not offer new deals because of the uncertain future.

"So I am back in Hungary and I am keeping myself fit. Hopefullly, I will soon sign for a big club here."
