Former Hearts winger Neil McCann to temporarily replace John Robertson at Inverness CT

Former Hearts winger Neil McCann will take charge of Inverness CT while John Robertson is on compassionate leave.

The Tynecastle club’s record league goalscorer is taking some time away from the club after a family bereavement.

Caley CEO Scot Gardiner confirmed he would be seeking a short-term replacement to cover Robertson’s absence, with assistant Scott Kellchaer having taken time off a while ago to recuperate from a serious illness.

And it’s former Dundee boss McCann who will step in at the Tulloch Caledonian stadium.

The Highland outfit drew 2-2 with Alloa on Tuesday night under the guidance of coaches Barry Wilson and Ryan Esson.

But McCann will take the reins as manager until Robertson feels ready to return, and his first match will be Friday night’s Championship meeting with Robbie Neilson’s league leaders as the former teammates go head-to-head in the televised encounter.
