Former Hearts striker Steven MacLean set to join coaching staff at Premiership club

Former Hearts striker Steven MacLean is set to join the coaching staff at St Johnstone.

The 37-year-old was released by the Tynecastle club upon the expiry of his contract earlier this month.

MacLean spent two seasons at Hearts although was out on loan at Raith Rovers for a spell this season.

But now, according to the Herald, he's set to call time on his playing career in order to take up a role as first team coach at the Scottish Premiership side.

He'll be working under Callum Davidson who is set to be announced Saints boss later today after Tommy Wright's surprise exit last month.
