Former Hearts star Callum Paterson appears to have privates grabbed by ex-Celtic man in Sheffield Wednesday loss

Former Hearts star Callum Paterson appeared to have his privates grabbed in a bizarre incident during Sheffield Wednesday's defeat to Preston North End.

Former Celtic star Darnell Fisher, who spent three years with the Hoops, seemingly grabbed the Scotland international by the genitals as the pair jostle for position in the penalty box.

The defender twice makes a grabbing motion on the bemused Paterson, and will now face an FA probe after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

The Tynecastle academy graduate looks around to see if any players or the officials spotted what happened, although Fisher could be in hot water for the grope retrpsectively.

Owls boss Tony Pulis didn't see what happened, saying afterwards: “I haven’t seen it but I’m sure, with everybody on social media, he’ll be up in flames if he’s done that.”

Alex Neill's team won the game 1-0, with goal scorer Tom Barkhuzien making light of what happened post-match, quipping: “Darnell is a good ball player.”

It's reminiscent of a similar incident that took place during Celtic's 3-0 win over Hearts in the 2018 Betfred Cup semi-final at Murrayfield.

Striker Steven MacLean tried a similar trick to unsettle Eboue Kouassi prior to a set piece, with the Ivorian hitting the deck and appealing to the ref to take action.

None was at the time, but MacLean was hit with a notice of complaint after the game, which the club accepted.

MacLean was handed a two-match ban, meaning he missed the Jambos' subsequent Edinburgh derby clash with Hibs.
