Former Hearts loan star blasts 'classless' Paul Hartley as ex-teammates clash in League One showdown

Falkirk co-boss Lee Miller has hit out at Cove Rangers manager Paul Hartley for not shaking hands with him at full-time.

The two teams squared off in a top of the table clash in League One as Cove edged out the Bairns 2-0 at home.

It was fiery encounter with five players going in the referee's book with Miller claiming there was some play-acting as the player/manager made a cameo appearance off the bench with 15 minutes left.

The former Hearts loan star didn't think there was any nasty challenges, but was irked by 'classless' Hartley for choosing not to shake his hand (or fist bumping him) at the full-time whistle.

The pair were former Tynecastle team-mates for a short spell during the second half of the 2004/05 season.

Miller said: "There was a lot of throwing themselves to the deck that I saw.

"Was there a nastiness? I don't think so, with two teams fighting at the top of the league it's always going to be like that.

"The thing that did disappoint me was the manager didn't stay to shake hands again, I think that's classless.

"It's one of those things, no matter what happens win, lose or draw you always stay to shake hands."

Miller was frustrated Falkirk didn't show up in a match that had a lot riding on it as his side were guilty of making basic errors at the back.

He added: "We never got started today.

"We had a game plan in place and never really took it to Cove, I don't think we started the game right and it took us a while to get into it.

"Set pieces are your bread and butter, you need to be aggressive in both boxes and I don't think we did that today.

"It's something we need to look at, these goals can be eradicated.

"You have to do the basics right and the rest take care of itself, we didn't do that today."

Former Celtic midfielder Hartley said there was nothing extra at play as he sealed the win over his old club.

He said: "I never see it like that, there's no revenge in it for me.

"It's another game and another three points."
