Former Hearts defender Clevid Dikamona reveals Kilmarnock boss blanked him during relegation run in

Clevid Dikamona has revealed Tommy Wright gave him the silent treatment during Kilmarnock’s relegation run in.

The former Hearts defender played no part as Killie dropped into the Championship after losing 4-2 on aggregate to Dundee in the play-off final.

The Congo international will pass his former club on the way down after Robbie Neilson’s team clinched their return to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

Dikamona says he was fit and willing to contribute to the Rugby Park’s side attempt to beat the drop and extend their 28-year-stint in the top flight.

But he was blanked by Wright and has now left the Ayrshire club as ten players were axed after relegation was confirmed.

He told the Daily Record: “Everyone is hurting. I would have liked a chance to play my part.

“I got injured shortly after the manager arrived but I was back training within three or four weeks. I was supposed to be playing against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup but at the last minute the gaffer changed his mind.

“He gave me no indication of it but I just had to accept his decision. I still respect him. He tried a lot in the last few months. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. He had some good ideas.

“If they want to have the chance to return to the Premiership they need to keep experienced guys like Kirk Broadfoot and Alan Power.”
