Former Hearts chairman wants SPFL to reveal how everyone voted in reconstruction 'indicative' poll

Leslie Deans want the SPFL to reveal the voting breakdown for the reconstruction indicative vote.

Plans for a 14-10-10-10 league system fell through due to a lack of support from clubs following the poll on Monday.

However the former Hearts chairman wants SPFL chief Neil Doncaster to provide further clarity on how everybody voted in the interest of transparency.

He told the Daily Record: “There were numbers around an indicative vote suggested to me on Sunday night that differed from the result published on Monday.

The SPFL have announced the breakdown of poll results before, most recently the controversial Good Friday vote.

“It’s a question of legitimate public interest to ask for the results to be broken down again. If they choose not to do so, fine. If not, why not?

“We’re supposed to live in a democracy, not North Korea. The media want to know and so do the public. There is genuine public interest. What is a problem with telling us?”

Hearts, Partick Thistle and Stranraer will all move down a division and Deans welcomed news that there would be a legal challenge as a result.

It emerged on Tuesday that Partick and Hearts would be working together on a joint legal bid.

He said: "I've had a huge amount of sympathy for Partick Thistle throughout all of this.

"They have been treated worse than Hearts. I'm delighted they're getting their chance for justice. The only reason they couldn't do it before was because they couldn't afford the cost of a court case.

“They were about to be denied justice and fairness because they could not afford it and that’s a terrible indictment of a modern society. They are now about to get justice and fairness and everyone should applaud that.”
