Former Hearts boss Daniel Stendel set for management return after second job offer

Former Hearts boss Daniel Stendel has been offered a return to management in Germany.

Bundesliga II outfit VFL Osnabruck have approached the ex-Tynecastle coach just days after he was given the chance to take over a French club Nancy.

Stendel left Hearts last summer after their enforced relegation to the Championship.

The Jambos sat bottom of the table but only four points off Hamilton in 11th with eight games of the campaign still to play.

Despite Ann Budge praising his work in Gorgie, a break clause in his contract was activated and he was replaced by the returning Robbie Neilson after just a few months in the capital.

Stendel had worked for free for the final few weeks of his deal as the club implemented cost-cutting measures brought about by the premature end to the Scottish Premiership season.

The German was keen to stay on but the decision was taken out of his hands and he’s been out of work since then.

However, after waiting so long, two offers have come along at once, although the 46-year-old is understood to be more likely to return to his homeland and join Osnabruck rather than taking the reins at Nancy.
