Former Hearts and Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis joins Clyde

Clyde have announced the signing of Morgaro Gomis after he left Falkirk following a two-year spell.

The 35 year-old midfielder, who started his career with Montpellier, has played for a host of Scottish clubs since joining Cowdenbeath in 2006.

The experienced star has featured for Hearts, Motherwell and he enjoyed two spells at Dundee United, where he won the Scottish Cup in 2010. Gomis also spent time with Birmingham City in the English Championship.

The former Senegal international is Clyde's first signing of the summer and Bully Wee boss Danny Lennon was thrilled to sign Gomis on a one- year deal.

He told the Clyde website: ""We are delighted to add Morgaro Gomis to our playing staff for the coming season.

"His outstanding ability has led him to playing most of his career in the Scottish Premiership, as well as playing in the English Championship and at full international level.

"He also has two seasons in League One under his belt with Falkirk. His experience and defensive qualities will be a welcome addition.

"For the upcoming season we need more experience and better defensive assets to improve our squad. More than half of our squad last season were 23 or under and the lack of experience cost us at times.

"We were also too easy to score against in the first half of the season, for a number of reasons.

"It is important that we learn from those mistakes, carefully plan the changes we need to make and successfully implement those changes to enhance performance and results.”
