Former golf club manager had hundreds of indecent images of children

Indecent images of children were discovered by police on an iPhone and iPad after officers attended a man's address, a court heard.

Nick Leuty, 53, of Kings Mill Road West, Sutton-in-Ashfield, went on to plead guilty to three charges of having more than 600 indecent photographs of children when he appeared before magistrates.

The case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing where Leuty was given six months in prison, suspended for two years, and 30 rehabilitation activity days.

He will now have to sign the sex offenders' register for seven years and be subject to a sexual harm prevention officer for five years.

Katrina Wilson, prosecuting, said the three charges reflected the categories of the images recovered.

There were 121 indecent images in Category A - the most serious - 135 in Category B and 374 in Category C.

The iPhone contained a large number of indecent images of children between the ages of six years and 13 years, and the photos were of both boys and girls.

The iPad had a smaller number of images.

Leuty was interviewed by police and he admitted possessing the images. He had begun looking at "child pornography" a few years earlier.

The court was told, in mitigation, that he had no previous convictions, so was a man of good character.

He used to manage golf clubs and leisure clubs and hopes to get back to work.
