Former 'Glee' star Mark Salling pleads guilty to possession of child pornography

Mark Salling appeared in court on Monday to plead guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, the Associated Press reported.

Michael Proctor, Salling's attorney, said in a statement to People that the troubled actor is ready to move forward and begin rebuilding following the scandal.

"Mark is focused on accepting responsibility and attempting to atone for his conduct," Proctor's statement read.

Salling, 35, copped a plea deal in October granting him a more lenient prison sentence. He's facing four to seven years behind bars in exchange for his admission of guilt.

Police reportedly found more than 50,000 images of child pornography on computers and thumb drives belonging to the former star.

The Associated Press reported that Salling was in possession of photos and videos of children as young as 3 years old being abused.

As a result of the charges against him, Salling will have to register as a sex offender and undergo some sort of treatment.

He's forbidden from having any contact with anyone under the age of 18 and must stay 100 feet or more away from schools, parks, public swimming pools, youth centers, playgrounds and arcades.

Salling will also be ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution to each of his victims, documents obtained by People magazine revealed.

The actor was arrested in 2015 after investigators reported that a laptop, hard drive and USB flash drive seized from his home contained child pornography. They were tipped off by his then-girlfriend.

He was named in a two-count indictment in which he was accused of receiving porn involving two young girls. The trial was delayed while Salling sought out new legal representation, however.

The U.S. Attorney's office predicts it will be at least three months before Salling receives his official sentence.
