Former Giants QB David Carr: Eli Manning ‘still has the ability’

If anyone knows what New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning brings to the table, his former teammate and current NFL Network analyst, David Carr, does.

Carr, who is a former No. 1 overall pick from the 2002 NFL Draft, became Manning’s backup in 2008 and spent three of his 10 seasons in the NFL with the Giants.

Carr, whose younger brother, Derek, is the current quarterback of the Oakland Raiders, conducted a recent film breakdown and said that his former teammate still has the ability to succeed in 2019.

Even with the Giants selecting Daniel Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the team remains committed to Manning as their starter for the upcoming season.

Despite the 5-11 record a season ago, Manning showed that he could still be successful in the offense, especially during the final month of the year when they averaged around 30 points per game — and that came without wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

With a revamped offensive line in front of him, Manning should be able to stay upright and have some of that same success in 2019, potentially winning the Giants a few more games and extending his career for another year.
