Former Giant Clint Sintim named defensive line coach at UVA

The University of Virginia announced on Saturday evening that former Cavalier, Clint Sintim, had been hired as the team’s new defensive line coach, which is a position that was made available when Vic So’oto revealed earlier this month that he’d be joining the staff at USC.

Sintim dominated during his time at UVA, being named Sporting News Freshman All-ACC, Sporting News Freshman All-American and ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2015, First-team All-ACC in 2007 and Second-team All-ACC in 2008.

In 2009, Sintim was a second-round pick of the New York Giants in the NFL Draft, and expectations were understandably high. Unfortunately, Sintim would never be able to recreate his college success and after just three seasons in blue, the linebacker’s NFL career would come to an end.

After two ACL tears, Sintim officially retired in 2013 having appeared in just 24 NFL games (one start), recording 33 tackles (two for a loss), three QB hits and one sack.

In retirement, Sintim almost immediately found his way into coaching, joining the staff at West Alabama in 2014 before moving onto Virginia, Richmond and Delaware and then returning to UVA on Saturday.
