Former Georgia DC Todd Grantham receives hefty raise after electing to stay at Florida

Todd Grantham, the former Georgia defensive coordinator, elected to stay in Gainesville with the Florida Gators Wednesday.

A longtime assistant in college and professional football, Grantham was offered the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator job by newly hired head coach Zac Taylor.  However, the Virginia Tech alumnus chose to stay in the Sunshine State, in what was thought to be an unexpected decision at the time.

Later, reports surfaced on a raise for Grantham through Florida.  The defensive coordinator received nearly a $410,000 bonus, making him one of the Top 5 paid defensive assistants in college football.  Now, Florida’s defensive leader is set to earn roughly $1.8 million a season through 2022, up from last year’s salary of around $1.39 million.

Ironically, the majority of Georgia fans rejoiced after hearing of the news, while Bengals fans seemed a bit blue.  It’s safe to say the two fanbases’ feelings towards Grantham are quite different.
