Washington Huskies hire former Georgia football standout

Former Georgia Bulldog and NFL player Cornelius Washington is set to join Chris Peterson’s staff with the Washington Huskies.

Washington was hired as Recruiting Communications Coordinator for the Huskies, who have the 17th best class in the 2020 cycle.

Washington played for both the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions in the NFL. Washington recorded 5.5 sacks over his NFL career and fifty-five tackles over several seasons. Washington put up nice numbers at the NFL Combine to get drafted in the sixth round.

The Huskies have another UGA product in Jacob Eason this season, who is off to a hot start in 2019.

Head Coach Chris Peterson announced Washington’s new coaching staff members via Twitter:

The former Georgia pass rusher is joining an excellent program in Washington. The Huskies have been the PAC-12’s best team in recent seasons and Peterson should provide a stable coaching staff for Cornelius Washington. Most PAC-12 program’s don’t have the same recruiting resources as SEC schools, with Washington, Oregon, and USC being the exceptions.
