Former Georgia Bulldog Leonard Floyd records two sacks in dominant debut

Former Georgia Bulldog Leonard Floyd started his 2019 season on a tear last night. With four sacks last season, Floyd is making an instant impact for the elite Chicago Bears defense. The Bears defense played excellent, but their offense struggled en route to a 10-3 defeat to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

Floyd will look to compliment Khalil Mack more than he did last year. Floyd’s 2018 performance was solid enough as Chicago sported the best defense in the league. If Floyd can take his game to another level in 2019, then the Bears will have arguably the best pass rushing duo in the NFL. Here’s each of Chicago’s five sacks last night (including two by Leonard Floyd):

Floyd and Roquan Smith, Chicago’s 2018 first round pick out of Georgia, played fantastic to open their campaigns. Smith recorded five tackles, including one on the first play from scrimmage:

Floyd and Smith are two of the most entertaining defenders in the NFL to watch. They both have fast closing speed and great awareness. Chicago should bounce back from this tough opening-night loss.
