Former Gavin Woodhouse hotel in Wales closing "permanently"

A hotel that was part of Gavin Woodhouse’s Northern Powehouse Development empire is to close "permanently".

The landmark Queens Hotel in Llandudno announced yesterday it was shutting.

It was one of four North Wales hotels owned by Gavin Woodhouse.

The hotels - Queens, Llandudno Bay and Belmont, in Llandudno and Caer Rhun Hall in the Conwy Valley - all went into administration last summer, but continued to trade.

Caer Rhun closed at the start of year while the hotels in Llandudno were shut temporarily in March due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Now the Queens has announced it won't reopen after lockdown is eased.

It is understood all staff have been made redundant.

They posted on Facebook: "Well today is the day we have to post a very sad time in history.

"Today is the day our doors are closed permanently.

"All the team would like to thank you all for your loyal support over the many years as we welcomed you as strangers and said goodbye as friends until your next visit.

"The Queens will still remain as a family and we wish you all health and happiness for the future."
