Former footballer and reality star Ashley Cain devastated as baby daughter dies after battling leukaemia

Ashley Cain has shared the devastating news that his baby daughter Azaylia has passed away at just eight months old after battling leukaemia.

The 30-year-old former Ex On The Beach star and the baby's mother Safiyya Vorajee were able to bring their daughter home from hospital earlier this month after doctors found multiple tumours in her body.

Brave Azaylia, who underwent four rounds of chemotherapy, received messages of support from around the world including from Ashley's idol Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and she inspired a powerful 'let's go champ' message.

A fundraising campaign raised £1.5million for Azaylia to have specialist treatment in Singapore but a CT scan showed there were further complications.

Today the reality star and former Coventry footballer confirmed the tragic news that she had passed away.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post he penned: "Rest In Paradise Princess. I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven."

And Safiyya wrote: "You are my Angel my heartbeat my soul, RIP my precious baby, you will always be with me like a handprint on my heart."

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard was amongst those rallying to support Ashley.

"I'm here for you bro. Sending my love stay strong," he told him with a broken heart emoji.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mario Falcone said: "Heartbroken for you mate! Rip little Princess."

Love Island's Shaughna Phillip said: "Rest in paradise darling girl."

And former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison said: "I’m so sorry Ash... sending love."

Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia when she was two months old and she had been receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Yesterday Ashley shared photos of father and daughter out on a walk after being told to 'make the most' of their weekend together.

"We had our own little adventure today, even if it was just walking up and down the street. It was special!" he captioned the pictures of the doting dad with Azaylia in her pram.

"I thought we’d make the most of the sun today and have a little walk, as nurses came and told us this morning, to make the most of this weekend as Azaylia is becoming very fragile."

But he added that shortly after the photos were taken Azaylia had a seizure.

"Her eyes rolled back, she stopped breathing and her body went as stiff as a board," he explained.

"We put her on oxygen straight away and called for the oncall nurses.

"After a few hours of close observation we managed to settle her. This has happened a few times now, but it never gets any easier. Yet she continues to battle through!"

Paying homage to his tiny baby's incredible strength he said: "Your determination inspires me.

"You impress me each and every day. I'm so proud of you.

"I can't imagine my life without you. I have faith in you. My Champion. My Hero. I love you."
