Former football agent Willie McKay, who arranged Emiliano Sala's flight, charged with fraud

Willie McKay, the former football agent who was involved in the transfer of Emiliano Sala from Nantes to Cardiff City, has been charged with property fraud.

McKay helped to arrange Sala’s private flight which crashed in the English Channel, killing both the 28-year-old footballer and the pilot, David Ibbotson. His son, Mark McKay, was the acting agent in the deal.

A statement from the Insolvency Service said McKay, 60, has been charged with two counts of fraud over the transfer of property.

He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on 31 July.
