Former First Minister Carwyn Jones launches art of public speaking venture

Former First Minister Carwyn Jones is lending his expertise and experience to a new how to improve public speaking venture.

The  Labour AM for Bridgend, who will stand down at the next Welsh Assembly elections in 2021, has teamed up with Cardiff-based communications group Orchard, to provide tailored training for clients aimed at making them more confident and effective public speakers.

Mr Jones, a former barrister and who is widely regarded as being an effective public speaker and communicator, said: “There’s never been a more important time for people to develop presentational and public speaking skills.

"Working with Orchard, we’ll offer tailored training to individuals, determining what they need to get out of it from the outset, filming them in action, critiquing to enhance performance, and providing them with new skills.

"Whatever the context, we’ll aim to reduce nerves, increase confidence, and ensure trainees leave an impression on their future audience.”

Orchard director Tim Powell said: "Carwyn is a highly respected orator in both Welsh and English, and working with our film and technical teams I’m sure we can offer a service that is unique to Wales, with a package that will be attractive to audiences across the UK.”

Orchard group, which employs 85 staff, has annual revenues of £15m.
