Tessa Ross, the producer and former head of Film4, is set to launch a new production company with Juliette Howell, Working Title’s soon to be ex-head of television.
The company will cover both big and small screen content and will be officially up and running by the end of the year, according to Deadline. After leaving her post at Film4 last year, Ross became the chief executive of the National Theatre, yet left the job after just six months.
Ross has enjoyed continued success as an executive producer on films such as Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Under the Skin and Another Year. She was also behind two of this year’s Cannes breakout hits: the romantic drama Carol and the dystopian dating satire The Lobster.
Howell announced she would be leaving Working Title’s TV division last month. In her time there she oversaw shows such as Birdsong and The Borrowers. In her new position, she will still work on BBC2’s forthcoming thriller London Spy, with Ben Whishaw, and Sky1’s comedy Apocalypse Slough, with Rob Lowe.
