Former fighter Jake Heun has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison in Australia.
Heun, 34, recently pleaded guilty to importing large amounts of methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine. The Alaska native was arrested in September 2020 after a package of meth broke open on an aircraft and started leaking, which tipped off law enforcement, according to a report earlier this month in the Daily Mail.
After that, when police searched his phone, they found additional evidence of drug trafficking.
Heun was sentenced to seven years, nine months in prison this past Friday in Victoria, Australia. He will be eligible for parole after four years, nine months, though he has served more than a year of that time already.
According to court documents, Heun admitted his address was being used as a shipping location for illegal drugs – though he said he though the drugs were PEDs.
Heun’s fight record is 15-9. He most recently fought in 2019 and went 4-1 that year, including three wins under the RIZIN banner. His most recent fight was a first-round knockout of Satoshi Ishii.
Heun fought on Season 17 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and tapped to a first-round armbar from Adam Cella in his only fight on the show. He returned for Season 19, but again tapped to a first-round armbar to Todd Monaghan.
